Aside from a few years at Auburn for veterinary school, Dr. Power is a true Floridian—she was born in Tampa, lived in Dade City and Land O’Lakes, and also attended college at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
Dr. Power grew up with cats and other assorted pets including a hermit crab named Sebastian. She has loved both animals and teaching since she was a child, and to this day, client education is one of her favorite aspects of being a veterinarian. She also has a special interest in pet dentistry, diagnostic ultrasound, and soft tissue surgery.
She shares her home with an exuberant, spoiled beagle named Lady. Though she doesn’t think of herself exclusively as a “dog” person or a “cat” person, Dr. Power does admit that if you show her a beagle pup, she’ll be smiling ear to ear.
When she’s not working, Dr. Power loves Friends reruns, chocolate, and traveling—she’s even been as far as the Amazon in Peru. She also enjoys sports including football, baseball, basketball, and volleyball and is an enthusiastic Rays fan, as well as any team in orange and blue (Go Gators and War Eagle!).
